What are Cysts?

Cysts are common, benign, sac-like growths which may be filled with a semi-solid or liquid-like material. These growths may remain the same size over time; however, occasionally they can grow and get infected, causing pain, redness, and irritation at the site.

Treatment

Initially, we will inject the cyst with intralesional steroids to shrink it. At times, the injection can eliminate the cyst entirely. If the cyst appears infected, then a course of oral antibiotics will be prescribed. Definitive treatment for cysts is an excision, which we perform in-office under local anesthesia.
