What is a butt lift?

A butt lift in Phoenix (gluteoplasty) is a procedure where excess skin and fat are removed through surgical excision and liposuction to improve the appearance of the buttocks. The skin is lifted and tightened over the buttocks, resulting in a derrière that appears much less saggy, wrinkled, or dimpled. (A butt lift is not to be confused with a Brazilian butt lift, which is a different procedure which incorporates fat transfer.)

A butt lift is typically done under general anesthesia, and is an outpatient procedure. There are multiple techniques for a butt lift, and the precise one that is best for you and your specific needs will be discussed during your initial consultation with us. However, in general, an incision will be carefully made at the top of the buttocks, in the hips, waist, groin, or under the cheeks of the buttocks to remove excess skin and tighten the skin. The incisions will then be sutured and closed in layers. Liposuction is often used in a butt lift as well. Once the procedure is complete, surgical dressings will be applied and you will be given a compression garment to help with swelling and recovery.

Recovery

With a butt lift, you should expect to need about three weeks of recovery time. during this period, you may experience redness, swelling, bruising, and/or discomfort. Swelling may last for a few months, but will subside more and more each day. After the procedure, you may have drains placed to help collect excess fluid.

If you receive drains, we will give you detailed home care instructions for them. Immediately after your surgery, you will need a friend or family member to help you for about a week, especially if you have small children. Be sure to avoid strenuous activity for 4 to 6 weeks. This includes lifting children and pets.
