Laser Skin Resurfacing in Surprise, AZ

If you’re looking for an effective treatment to improve skin texture and quality and achieve a smoother, more radiant, and more youthful appearance, Regency offers laser skin resurfacing in Phoenix and at the other Arizona locations.

What is skin resurfacing?

Our natural collagen production begins to subside as we get older, which results in skin that appears dull, aged, and sagging. Laser skin resurfacing provides a solution to this by triggering brand-new collagen production, which makes the skin look younger, more radiant, and plumper.

Most commonly treated issues

  • Uneven skin tone
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet
  • Sagging skin
  • Age spots and sun spots
  • Scars
  • Enlarged oil glands

How does skin resurfacing work?

Laser skin resurfacing works by using a laser that passes to the dermis (deep layer), where directs short, concentrated beams of light to the area of concern. Damaged skin is removed layer by layer, and the process stimulates and rejuvenates cells to trigger the production of new collagen. This achieves skin that has more elasticity, better tone and texture, and a more youthful appearance.

Skin resurfacing treatment details

Skin resurfacing begins with a topical anesthetic. We will apply this to your skin to help minimize any discomfort. You will also be given protective eyewear. The laser will pass over the area to be treated, heating the deep layers within the dermis and creating small micro-injuries.

These micro-injuries trigger the skin to repair itself, which kicks collagen production in gear. We recommend 3 to 4 skin resurfacing treatments scheduled 3 to 4 weeks apart for optimal results.

Different types of lasers

Skin resurfacing utilizes different lasers that target different areas and issues. When you have your initial consultation with us, we will determine which type of laser will be best for your specific needs and goals, taking into consideration your skin type and condition, how much downtime you’re okay with, any medications you’re currently taking, and your medical history. Different types of skin resurfacing lasers include:

Ablative laser resurfacing

Used mainly for:

  • Deep wrinkles
  • Aging skin
  • Scarring

Non-ablative laser resurfacing

Used mainly for:

  • Stretch marks
  • Mild lines and wrinkles

Fractional laser resurfacing

Used mainly for:

  • Lines and wrinkles
  • Pigmentation of the neck, hands, and chest

Micro plasma radiofrequency laser resurfacing

  • Wrinkles
  • Cellulite
  • Aging skin

Recovery

Depending on the type of laser that’s used for your skin resurfacing (as well as the area and how extensive/deep your treatment is), your recovery may last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. For example, an ablative laser treatment can take up to three weeks of recovery time.

During your consultation, you will be informed of which laser will be used and how long your recovery will take, as well as exactly what you can expect during the healing process. In general, you can expect redness, swelling, and dryness after a skin resurfacing treatment. Scabbing and/or peeling may also occur. Be sure to check with us before applying any sort of topical product. You will be provided with detailed home care instructions to help with your recovery.
